District 8 neighbors

We don’t have to look, pray, or love the same to want the same things

I moved to Carter County from Arizona 3 years ago. My daughter decided to attend ETSU, and after visiting the area multiple times, I fell in love with the weather, the mountains, the rivers, and the people, so I decided to follow her to this beautiful part of Tennessee.

I enjoy helping people and being involved in my community. I have practiced as a pharmacist for 35 years and currently work in the local health system, helping patients in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, including all of Carter County.

I moved to Elizabethton knowing not a soul, but I quickly made friends by joining social groups. One of the first groups I joined was the Democrats of Carter County. I have met many wonderful community-focused neighbors through this group. I would say that I found my people in a like-minded political group, but I also joined the book club and found my people there. I consider my neighbors to be my people, too.

I think that Mr. Rogers sums up the importance of community and friends very well in the following timely and timeless quote: “When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.”
― Fred Rogers

I am dedicated to listening to my community, to my neighbors. I am dedicated to helping our community to be prosperous, healthy, and educated. I am dedicated to finding common ground and a shared humanity to help move Carter County to be the neighborhood where everyone can succeed and everyone belongs.
